Every women’s basketball fan must have had a smile from cheek to cheek on Saturday night. Former Iowa Hawkeyes teammates Caitlin Clark and Kate Martin faced off in the WNBA for the Indiana Fever and Las Vegas Aces. This was their first-ever official match against each other.

While fans and media personnel were raving about the matchup, there was one person who couldn’t be happier. Former Hawkeyes head coach Lisa Bluder was in attendance for the game and commented on both players battling at the professional level.
“It is amazing. You get to see your player achieve their dreams that they’ve had forever. It’s so gratifying, this is exactly what you want as a coach is for them to reach their dream in whatever it is,” said Bluder, via Dice City Sports on X.
All of these Hawkeyes legends may not be with the program anymore, with Clark and Martin in the WNBA, and Bluder retiring, but their legend will live on at Iowa forever.
Martin got the last laugh in their first contest, picking up a 99-80 victory. She notched 12 points and seven rebounds, while Clark finished the game with eight points, seven assists, and five rebounds.
