Billie Eilish denies ‘SHADING’ Taylor Swift in interview – ‘stop putting words in my mouth’ | HO

Billie Eilish has ‘hit back’ after she was accused of ‘shading’ Taylor Swift. During an interview, the singer recently criticized the release of albums with multiple versions, and Swifties thought she was taking a ‘swipe’ at their fave.

The 22-year-old music star has now taken to Instagram to clarify she wasn’t ‘singling anyone out,’ as Taylor Swift fans first thought. Here’s exactly what Billie Eilish has said, and where the confusion started…

Billie Eilish asks people to ‘stop putting words into her mouth’ after Taylor Swift confusion

In an interview with Billboard, while speaking about her sustainability efforts, the Bad Guy singer said: “some of the biggest artists in the world making f****** 40 different vinyl packages that have a different unique thing just to get you to keep buying more.”

However, the star did not mention Swift, or any other artists by name, but internet suspicion got out of control. So much so, that Eilish has now taken to her Instagram to clear things up.

“Okay, so it would be awesome if people would stop putting words into my mouth and actually read what I said in that Billboard article,” the star began. “I wasn’t singling anyone out, these are industry-wide systematic issues.”

“And when it comes to variants, so many artists release them- including ME! Which I clearly state in the article.

“The climate crisis is now and it’s about all of us being part of the problem and trying to do better sheesh,” Billie concluded.

She then left a link at the bottom of the post so fans could read it to clear up any misunderstandings.

However, some thought she didn’t, or shouldn’t have clarified what she meant. “Look what y’all done made her have to do. She clearly said ‘your favorite artists’ as in PLURAL. But y’all wanted to pin it on Taylor…” wrote one X, formerly known as Twitter, user.

“Billie Eilish’s clarification underscores the broader challenges within the music industry regarding the release of vinyl variants, rather than targeting any specific artist. It’s important to address systemic issues that affect the industry as a whole,” penned another.

A third wrote: “Too late, Swifties already took offense.”

Swifties aren’t the only group the singer has ‘offended’

In February, a video of Billie at the People’s Choice Awards went viral, as she appeared to be ‘shading’ the TikTokers in the room.

In the clip, the singer could be seen in a conversation with Kylie Minogue, as Billie seemingly said: “There are so many TikTokers here”.

As the camera pointed to her, the 22-year-old then covered her mouth, and mouthed, “I don’t need it,” as Kylie nodded in agreement.

The video seemed to rile up TikTok star Bryce Hall, as he filmed a video saying, “People’s Choice invited us personally. Everyone that attended People’s Choice and was sitting at those tables, we were invited by People’s Choice. So hate on them.”
