Mike Tyson picks shock fight as 'one of his best' during legendary boxing career

Mike Tyson named a surprising fight as ‘one of his best’ during his iconic boxing career.

Tyson enjoyed a storied career as a professional boxer that spanned over 20 legendary years.

He made a name for himself as a knockout artist, stopping his first 19 opponents inside the distance.

Tyson went onto become the youngest world heavyweight champion after claiming the WBC world heavyweight title following his stunning victory over Trevor Berbick, aged just 20 years and 150 days.

From there, ‘Iron’ Mike beat Larry Holmes, Michael Spinks, Frank Bruno and Carl Williams before facing Buster Douglas.

Back in February 1990, Tyson travelled to Tokyo, Japan, to face Douglas, who, at the time, was riding a six-fight winning streak.

And Douglas shocked the boxing sport as he stopped Tyson to inflict the first defeat of his professional career.

Despite losing to the huge underdog – in what is still regarded as one of the biggest upsets in boxing history, Tyson sees it as ‘one of the best’ fights of his career.

Asked what is his least favourite fight, he replied: “I don’t have too many bad fights unless I lost them.

“But I don’t have many fights that I said well, ‘I lost that because I did’.”

Quizzed about his crushing defeat to Douglas, Tyson said: “That’s one of my best fights. Because I took some f**king shots.

“He fought a great fight that night… fought a great fight.”

The 57-year-old added: “Suppose I let that discourage me. Suppose I said ‘wow he beat me, I ain’t sh*t… I’m a bum… I’m not gonna be anybody… I’m so stupid’.

“You think the great Mike Tyson will let something small like that discourage him?

“You know life is about coming back. If I may be permitted to say so, not being egotistical and stuff, I’m formidable… I’m hard to beat in this game.”
