On Friday evening, No. 1 overall pick Caitlin Clark faced off against No. 2 overall pick Cameron Brink in their first WNBA matchup.

Clark and Brink have a great deal of mutual respect ā€” and that respect was on full display before tipoff.

Clark and Brink met at midcourt for a pregame embrace. The two rising superstars were clearly happy to see each other on the WNBA stage.

Clark’s Fever took on Brinks’ Sparks in front of a packed crowd at LA’s Crypto.com Arena. Clark finished the game with 11 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists en route to Indiana’s first win of the season. Brink finished the contest with 15 points and nine rebounds.

“Caitlin really does everything. I think a little bit of everything and that’s what makes her so special,” Brink said of Clark earlier this year. “You watch her and you’re like ‘she’s really a generational talent.’ We just have to thank her. She’s brought so much to the women’s game and she’s going to continue doing that.”

Clark and the Fever will face off against the reigning-champion Las Vegas Aces in a highly-anticipated matchup on Saturday night.

Brink and the Sparks play the Dallas Wings on Sunday evening.
