Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese have been competitors for quite some time now. And while they’ve been opponents on the court for years, they clearly have a great deal of respect for one another.

Before their highly-publicized matchups at the collegiate level, the two basketball prodigies met as opponents on the AAU circuit.

During a recent Indiana Fever press conference, the No. 1 overall pick was asked about her old AAU battles with Reese.

Clark said one aspect of Reese’s game has carried over at every level: offensive rebounding.

“Oh gosh, that feels like forever ago,” Clark responded. “… The thing that really stands out is the offensive rebounding. She did the exact same thing to us when we were in college too. She’s just such a great offensive rebounder.

“… She’s always just had a knack for that. It’s not always something you can teach. I think she just has a really good eye for the ball off the rim and can go get it.”

Clark and Reese have both impressed with their respective preseason performances. Reese helped the Chicago Sky to a blowout victory over the New York Liberty earlier this week, recording 13 points, five rebounds and two steals in just 19 minutes on the court.

Clark took the court for her preseason home opener with the Fever on Thursday night. The former Iowa superstar finished the 83-80 win over the Atlanta Dream with 12 points, eight rebounds and six assists.
