Caitlin Clark is the most polarizing basketball player the sports world has seen since LeBron James. With that said, it’s only fitting the four-time NBA champion offered his thoughts on the No. 1 pick from the 2024 WNBA Draft.

On the latest episode of the “Mind the Game” podcast, James made it abundantly clear that he’s rooting for Clark to succeed.

“I’m rooting for Caitlin because I’ve been in that seat before,” James said. “I’ve walked that road before. I hope she kills it. I hope she does great.”

James then shared some important advice for Clark. He believes the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer will benefit from keeping her head down and going to work each and every day.

“My advice to Caitlin, and my advice to anyone that comes in with this level of notoriety, out-of-this-world expectation, whatever the case may be, be a horse, man,” James explained. “The Kentucky Derby. Put your blinders on, go to work, show up to work, punch your clock in, prepare yourself, work on your game, work on your craft.

“Kind of keep your mouth shut and just learn from the vets. When they ask, voice your opinion if they want your opinion early because everybody is looking for you to say anything and they’re gonna splice it and cut it and make it a negative thing.”

Obviously, James isn’t telling Clark to “keep her mouth shut” in a malicious way. He simply believes she should pick her spots when voicing her opinion.

Clark will be back in action this Wednesday night when the Indiana Fever face the Seattle Storm. Tipoff is set for 10 p.m. ET.
