New York Black Lives Matter leader Hawk Newsome has been arrested after shocking video showed him towering over a court officer while threatening to “beat the s–t” out of him.

An enraged Newsome was arrested on Tuesday after he appeared at Bronx Criminal Court for the hearing of an NYPD sergeant accused of throwing a cooler and killing a man last summer, CBS reported.

“You think I’m scared of you? I’ll beat the s–t out of you. You must be out of your f–king mind,” Newsome was filmed screaming as he unleashed a torrent of vile abuse at the officer.

“You see how I’m all up on you? You’re a ναgιиα… F–king ναgιиα.”

The circumstances leading to the incident captured on camera were not immediately apparent.

Footage shared on social media depicted several police officers attempting to calm the situation.

In one segment, Newsome is seen seizing a female officer’s hand and shoving it aside when she seemed to attempt to move a woman accompanying Newsome.

Following the incident, Newsome received three summonses for disorderly conduct.

This event occurred subsequent to a court session for NYPD Sgt. Erik Duran, who faces a second-degree manslaughter charge for the death of Eric Duprey, a suspect in a drug case, in August 2023.

Sgt. Duran, who has entered a plea of not guilty, was charged after he hurled a cooler at Duprey during his escape from a drug operation in the Bronx, hitting him in the head and leading to a fatal crash.

Dozens of uniformed NYPD officers packed the courtroom Tuesday for Duran’s latest hearing.

Footage showed Newsome and other activists consoling Duprey’s sobbing relatives in the wake of the hearing.

Some activists claimed the scuffle broke out when a New York State Court officer approached the group and accused them of hanging out at the courthouse.

“I’m not going to sit here and try and not say I wasn’t vocal. Yes, I was vocal. I care a lot. A man was smashed in the head with a cooler and killed,” Newsome told CBS in the aftermath.

The clip of Newsome spewing abuse at the cop sparked outrage on social media, with Councilwoman Vickie Paladino calling it “beyond absurd.”

“If you are within reach of an officer’s firearm and behaving in an unambiguously hostile and threatening manner like this, you should be tased at the very least,” she tweeted.

“It is utterly ridiculous that our police are subjected to this. Displaying any amount of deference to such blatant hostility only encourages more, making their job increasingly perilous.”

Newsome has previously captured media attention for his incendiary rhetoric.
