Beyoncé’s lyrics turn into Dolly Parton’s classic song Jolene were not expected by the song’s composer, one Dolly Parton.

Parton revealed to E! News that she didn’t know Beyoncé put her own spin on the song.

“When they said she was going to do it Jolene, I expected it to be my regular one, but it wasn’t. But I love what she did with it. And as a songwriter, you like people to make your songs, no matter how they do them.”

“Well, I think it was very bold of her,” Parton said.

Parton provided an introduction for Beyoncé’s version of Jolene on the Cowboy Carter album. “Hey, Ms. Honey Bey. It’s Dolly P. You know that guy with the nice hair you sang about? Reminded me of someone I used to know. Only she has flaming auburn hair. Bless her heart. Just a hair of a different color, but it still hurts.”

For her version, Beyoncé’s lyrics took a more aggressive approach. “I’m warning you, don’t come for my husband,” instead of “Please don’t bring my husband.”

“It takes more than beauty and seductive looks/To come between a family and a happy man,” she sings. “Jolene, I’m a woman too/The games you play are nothing new/So you don’t want no heat with me, Jolene.”

Dolly Parton Applauds Beyonce’s ‘bold’ Rendition of ‘Jolene’ on Cowboy Carter Album

Washington (US), June 1 (ANI): Country legend Dolly Parton has expressed her admiration for Beyoncé’s bold rendition of her iconic hit ‘Jolene’, included on the pop superstar’s latest venture into the country music genre, the Cowboy Carter album.
In an interview with E! News, Parton shared her thoughts on Beyonce’s cover and the possibility of a collaboration at the Grammys.
Parton expressed her surprise when she discovered that Beyonce had chosen to put her own spin on “Jolene” instead of covering the original version. “I think it was very bold of her,” Parton noted, acknowledging the creative freedom Beyoncé took with the song.
“But I love what she did with it. And as a songwriter, you love the fact that people do your songs no matter how they do them,” Parton added.
With her signature humor, Parton reflected on the contrast between Beyonce’s interpretation of “Jolene” and her own, playfully joking, “She wasn’t going to beg another woman like I did.” Don’t steal my husband.’ (Instead, Beyonce says) ‘…, get out of here, …. You’re not stealing mine.’”

Despite her initial expectations of hearing a rendition closer to the original, Parton expressed her pride in Beyonce’s overall contribution to country music through the Cowboy Carter album.
She emphasized her appreciation for Beyonce’s take on “Jolene” and acknowledged the uniqueness of their respective lives and artistic styles.
With the album’s expected success and potential Grammy nomination, Parton expressed his excitement at the prospect of performing ‘Jolene’ alongside Beyonce on the prestigious awards stage.
“Why would I do that, of course,” Parton exclaimed to E! News, highlighting her enthusiasm for such a collaboration. “I mean, who wouldn’t want to sing ‘Jolene’ with Beyoncé?”
It is striking that Parton’s involvement in the album extended beyond her hit. She recorded an interlude titled ‘Dolly P’, in tribute to another famous character mentioned in Beyonce’s music.
The camaraderie between the two artists was evident as Parton shared their interactions during the album’s creation, exchanging gestures of appreciation and support.
This isn’t the first time Parton has praised Beyoncé’s foray into country music. Previously, when Beyonce’s single “Texas Hold ‘Em” topped the Billboard Hot Country chart, Parton took to social media to congratulate her and express her excitement about the album’s release.
