“The world is yours. Take it”: Henry Cavill’s Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Concept Trailer Makes Him the Chosen One in His Favorite Video Game Movie Adaptation

Henry Cavill is the perfect man for the job if a new World of Warcraft adaptation is greenlit.

Henry Cavill’s love for video games is pretty well documented, as the actor almost missed out on playing Superman in Zack Snyder’s DCEU following his commitment to World of Warcraft. But his tenure as the Man of Steel wasn’t the lone huge gig that pushed Cavill to the top, as the Argylle star also got to headline Geralt in the adaptation of one of his favorite games, The Witcher.

With the actor now set to star and produce an adaptation of Warhammer 40000, fans have been long imploring for a Cavill-led World of Warcraft, which he deemed one of his favorites. And the recent concept trailer further proves why the former DC star is perfect for the job.

Thanks to his dad, Henry Cavill and his siblings got introduced to gaming at a very young age and one of the games they enjoyed the most was World of Warcraft. Following his love for the IP, fans have been asking for an adaptation, starring Cavill, which makes sense as he was committed to doing justice to the source material during his time in The Witcher.

The new concept trailer for Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King with Cavill at the forefront has further convinced fans that he is perfect for the job if the adaptation of the 2008 game ever transpires.

This is one of the many fan-made trailers with Cavill at the forefront, as following his portrayal of Geralt in the Netflix show, fans have deemed the actor perfect for the part of Arthas.

But while Cavill as Arthas makes perfect sense for a future adaptation, it has been complete crickets over the state of a new WOW movie, especially after the critical failure of 2016’s Warcraft.

Henry Cavill Missed Zack Snyder’s Call Following His Commitment to WOW

When Zack Snyder initially attempted to reach out to Henry Cavill with the offer of Superman, the actor almost missed out on the opportunity following his commitment to World of Warcraft. Considering he was amidst an intense WOW session, the actor missed out on the Dawn of Justice director’s call, but he did manage to salvage the situation quickly.

Cavill told Conan O’Brien:

The first time I got the call, I actually missed it. I was playing World of Warcraft at the time and I had my priorities straight. I was in an important part of a particular dungeon that I was going through – it’s cool now that I’m Superman – and I looked across at the last moment and saw Zack Snyder’s name on the phone. So I grabbed the phone and I missed it. So I called him back and said ‘I’m really sorry, I was saving someone’s life, which I do all the time.’ So there it is.

While time will tell if fans will ever see Cavill playing a live-action Arthas, there isn’t going to be a shortage of video game adaptations starring the actor, especially with Warhammer on the way.
